- Press and hold the button until the indicator LED turns on and then goes off (~ 4 seconds).
- Release the button.
- When the indicator LED flashes, press and release the button.
- When the indicator LED flashes again, press and release the button again.
- The indicator LED will start pulsing and Talkable will appear on the PC as a USB device called “CAELUMBOOT”
(If the device appears as “TALKABLE”, the process to enter “Software Update” mode hasn’t worked. Please try again. Contact support@caelumsystems.co.uk if you are still not able to connect as “CAELUMBOOT”.)
Updating from versions before 1.03
If updating a Talkable from version 1.00, 1.01 or 1.02 an extra step is required. See below for details.
Version 1.03 Extra steps
Normally, only the “Talkable.uf2” file needs to be used, however, when updating from a version before 1.03 (released on 3rd September 2024) to version 1.03 or later, you will also need to use the “update-bootloader-talkable.uf2” file before the “Talkable.uf2” file:
- Drag & drop or copy-paste the “update-bootloader-talkable.uf2” file from the website into the “CAELUMBOOT” drive.
- Talkable will then disconnect from the PC and reboot. It should then reconnect to the PC as “CAELUMBOOT” again.
- Drag & drop or copy-paste the “Talkable.uf2” file from the website into the “CAELUMBOOT” drive.
Talkable will then disconnect from the PC again and reboot. It should then reconnect to the PC as “TALKABLE”, indicating that the update is complete. If it does not reconnect, you may need to unplug and re-plug it in again.
